Mandevilla Flower Pots

RED RIDING HOOD MANDEVILLA
MY FAIR LADY MANDEVILLA
ALICE duPONT MANDEVILLA
I bought 3 different mandevillas at Costco at the end of April and transplanted them to bigger pots and then planted a bunch of different flowers around them.  They have grown soooo much and everyday there are more blooms.   I wish I had taken pictures when I first planted them so you could see just how much they have grown.

RECIPE OF THE WEEK

These are one of my favorite  treats.  I usually put then in a 9x13 pan but decided to make individual ones in cupcake pans.

Special K Bars

1 cup sugar
1 cup corn syrup
1 cup peanut butter
6 cups special K cereal ( I always use Rice Krispies)
6 ounces butterscotch chips
6 ounces semi-sweet chocolate chips.

Mix sugar and corn syrup in a medium size kettle on stove and bring to a simmer for 1 minute(do not overcook). Remove from heat and add peanut butter and mix well.  Add Rice Krispies and stir until all rice krispies are well covered.  Fill cupcake 2/3 full. Melt chips in microwave and frost each one. It should make 2 dozen.  I place them in the freezer for about 5 minutes to set up the chocolate.   Enjoy!

Bluegrass Festival

Mark and I went to a Bluegrass Festival in an Ogden park on Saturday. We listened to about 10 different bands.  It was an absolutely beautiful day with the temperature in the high 70's.  We brought our blankets and sat on the lawn.  One of my colleagues was in charge of it and she did an amazing job.  Way to go Michelle!

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY!

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers out there but especially to you mom!!

We never know the love of the parent until we become parents ourselves.

Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever.

If you bungle raising your children, I don't think whatever else you do well matters very much.

Of all the rights of women, the greatest is to be a mother.
If I had a single flower for every time I think about you, I could walk forever in my garden.
"Her children arise up, and call her blessed." -- Bible, Proverbs 31:28

Exodus 20:12 Honor your father and mother. Then you will live a long, full life in the land the LORD your God willgive you

Mike and Katie's Wedding

We were in Omaha last weekend to spend some time with Kurtis and Sarah and to attend the wedding of one of my dearest friends' sons.  We met in nursing school and have been friends ever since. She has 3 amazing sons and her oldest got married last weekend to a darling girl. We were glad we could share this  momentous occasion with them. It was also wonderful getting together with Ed and Julie.  We love all of you and need to get together more often. We missed not have Nancy there.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KURTIS

Happy Birthday Kurtis!! Wishing we were there to celebrate with you. We love and miss you.

THE BLOOMING MARKET

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

Ashlee and I have decided to use our creativeness and start a floral business. Hopefully this is the beginning of a "blooming" business. We went around to local businesses and dropped off these arrangements with our business cards today and we got our first order shortly after we got home. So we're excited. Check out our blog site at:http://www.thebloomingmarket.blogspot.com

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

I love "Everybody Loves Raymond" so I couldn't resist sharing this quote.

Everyone should have kids. They are the greatest joy in the world. But they are also terrorists. You'll realize this as soon as they are born, and they start using sleep deprivation to break you.

EASTER EGG HUNT IN THE BASEMENT!!!!

Thanks to the unpredictable weather in Utah we had to have the Easter egg hunt indoors. All of Mark's family left on a cruise and will be gone over Easter so we had brunch yesterday and the Easter egg hunt at our house, but as you can tell by the pictures the weather didn't cooperate.

Easter Decorations

I decided it was time to get in the mood for spring and Easter after having incredible springtime weather last week.  We had several days in the high 60's. I worked in the yard a couple of days and managed to put up a few decorations.
